Howard and Karen Bosson

The PURDEY story

Firstly, let me explain the name. I have a habit of naming things, this includes plants, pond fish and numerous inanimate objects. So it came as no surprise to Karen that our Speedster was to have one.

The first attempt was Sammy the Speedster but Karen, much to her credit, put her foot down and said there was no way she was driving around in something as beautiful as a Speedster with a name like Sammy.

So I had another think and as I've always fancied Joanna Lumley ( only in my dreams) I decided on the name of Purdey. This was in recognition of a friends comments about all the curves and bumps being in the right places. Purdey joined our family on October 1st 1992 after we'd spotted her for sale at a local VW show.

At the time we were saving for double glazed windows but you can't look cool in them can you?So after a chat with the owner and our friendly bank manager we took delivery and we've never looked back.

We believe Purdey was built in the mid 80's, somewhere in the Midlands and would love to find out about her early history. Investigation has brought to light the fact that she is one of 5 Californians built by DJ Sportcars (now called DAX) around 1983.
