Update on recent progress - March 2004 I have still not managed to finish my car, although I have now driven it 4 feet forwards / backwards. As you can see I have now hung the doors, bonnet and boot
so it has started to look more like a car. The roll cage has
been powder coated and bolted in along with the seats. All wiring
to SVA standards has been finished built from scratch, tested
and works a treat. The engine is fully working again now and
ready for a longer test, I have just finished a Tig welded ali
traction bar that solid mounts the rear engine to the sub chassis,
which is strengthened by the roll cage that picks up under the
rear arches. Previous info and photos below: |

These are now stacked up neatly waiting to be fitted again sometime later in the year. I am hoping to have it MOT'd in the next few weeks so it may well be seen on the roads in the next month or two. |

Porsche 944 vented disk Brakes all round with a 911 master cylinder. 66 chassis has been converted to IRS and now runs 944 rear-end, Koni adjustable shock all round. Kerscher front and rear anti roll bars. I have built the car so that the bodyshell can be removed in about 1 hour so that cleaning and fast servicing can be done. |
My Speedster is a L&B, Standard body. I opted for the extra flared wheel arches that will need to be bonded on, I have 90% finished the near side. The car runs a 2007cc Twin 45 150 Bhp Type 1 motor that I built for my old Beetle 4 years ago. It's mated to a Cogbox super street box, with 3/4 close ratio gears. Having a lot of fun trying to get the doors, engine lid and bonnet to fit properly.... Lots and lots of fun. I am hoping to finish the car this summer. Justin Hardy - Contact details: |
