This Car is a high spec 550 Spyder replica based on a Porsche 914. built by a qualified engineer with twenty years experience in car building.
The engine is a highly modified Porsche 914 type 4 uprated to 2.4 litre. it is fully bluprinted, balanced and tuned to give 200 bhp. It has John Mayor heads with 44mm inlet & 38mm exhaust stainless valves, double valve springs, Chrome Moly pushrods, swivel feet tappets.
The car runs on unleaded with a 8:8 compression ratio. Carbs are 44 IDFs with trumpets and K&N filters. it has a rare Riehart cooling system with 911 fan and alternator, 316 stainless exhaust, SVA complient. Coupled to this is a Porsche 914 5 speed side shift gearbox with improved design gear linkage running in linear/axial machine bearings (no play). The car runs on FUCH alloys polished, with German Car Company disc brakes all round. All hoses are stainless. This particular Spyder has a fully working air intake at the front supplying air to a 13 row oil cooler in front of car. suspension is double wishbone at front (unequal length), and 5 link trailing arms at back with panhard rod and De-Dion axle, being held up with AVO Pro-race fully adjustable shocks. All body lines and doors have been gapped correctly and the seats are true replica's of the original made by profesional classic car upholsterer. All wiring is my own design, very simple with full wiring diagrams. The car is unusual in that it has been SVA tested but is tax exempt being historic vehicle built from parts. The performance is 0-60 in 5.5sec ish - 0-100 10sec - with
top speed of 145mph although the speedo needs to be replaced
with one that goes to 150, the engine will quite happily rev
to 7,000rpm as it is built with top spec parts. |
