David Home - update on "Incey Wincey" project
After two long years of blood
and sweat, incy is now road legal and nearly run in without too
many problems. She handles very well and is very swift with the
2.4 stuck in the back. The total cost of the build was £18000,
alot more than Iexpected but well worth it, and a very good subsitute
for Gambit. At the moment Iam running him in on cheapo oil and
will soon be putting the good stuff in (Penright 10/60). Still
need to get a tonneau cover made and get my hood repaired as
the rear window was not sewen in properly, the clutch needs slight
attention as the master cylender fitted does not give enough
movement at the box to disengage the clutch properly and so its
sometimes a little difficult getting out of 5th and also from
4th to 3rd, buts its getting better all the time. Incy does about
20mpg average, 25mpg at best and probably 10mpg when im caining
it. It does 0-60 in 4.5ish secs and 0-100 in 12secs, with a potential
top speed of 145mph, but I dont think il'l try that one.
Earlier report (April 200) below: ".....the spyder I'm building although progressing slowly has been the most problematic kit ive built, and this is my fifth. The problem is not mechanical but the quality of the body. the glass fibre work is appalling compared to other cars ive built, and so most of my time spent on the car is spent filling and sanding all the imperfections that keep croping up. Still, I'm peservering and the body is nearing the point where it will be ready for the spray shop. Not much luck with the engine eigther, as the cylender head work is still not done after 4 months so all in all you won't see the car on the road entil probably next year. "
