Important news re Speedster and Spyder Club Events in 2010 At the recent Annual Planning Meeting, several changes were agreed which may affect people planning to attend events this year. The list on the Events section of the website has been amended to give the final, correct information, but the main changes are: (1) Members staying overnight for the Kit Car Show at Stoneleigh Park will, as usual, be at the Baginton Arms and not the other hotel previously suggested as a possibility. (2) On 6th June, the Club will be supporting the Aircooled Show at Stonor Park rather than TIPEC (despite my previous comments which suggested the other way round!) Members felt that Stonor is such a great location and show that they didn't want to miss it 2 years running last year we chose TIPEC and may well do so again in the future. Of course, individual members may still like to go to TIPEC, but the main club presence will be at Stonor (such a shame that the dates clash!) (3) The club will not be present at the Sherborne event (Classics at the Castle) the way we were charged last year proved unpopular with members! N.B. In addition to the above changes, club members should note that the information about our attendance at the Enfield Pageant on 31st May, given on the back page of the new edition of the club magazine, is incorrect! The club is not attending this event, for the simple reason that the organisers require all cars to be displayed for the entire 3 days on the Bank Holiday and we were only interested in the Monday. The magazine's deadline had passed by the time we found this out. Tony Tucker (Speedster and Spyder Club Events Co-ordinator) - download an updated listing Just to let everyone know that the 'Martin and Walker' trophy has been recovered from the 2008 winner, Paul Davies, thanks to the investigations carried out by Leslie 'Sherlock' Bennett. It turned out that Paul lives only a couple of miles from me in Northampton, so following a tip off from Leslie I took my Beck for a short run to see him yesterday and recovered the trophy. Paul sold his self built car some time ago, hence his failure to turn up at Stoneleigh 2009, but seeing my car has put the thought of a fresh build in his mind, perhaps this time he will join the club before winning our top prize?
