Howard & Karen Bosson - For Sale - PURDEY - a unique Speedster

Reduced to £12,500 for a genuine quick sale

Purdey is an original Dax Californian (with flared arches). According to Dax (DJ Sportscars), it is one of only five made and sold by them in the mid eighties and has been owned by us for the past 16 years - it is, of course, Tax Exempt.

It has undergone extensive restoration. This includes a complete back to basics re-spray carried out by the V-Dub body shop team at Audlem, including new doors and deck lid. The paint is the whitest available, the base white that is used for all other white shades. (photo's of restoration work available on request).

The interior is red leather and has been custom made by a local trimmer.the hood is a black double duck, custom made alteration using a Chesil unit as the base. There is also a part tonneau for the hood.

The running gear has been replaced/renewed over the years, with the exception of the wheels. There are discs on the front and drums on the rear.

The engine is a 'Big Boys Toys' 1835cc type one unit with lightened and balanced crank shaft, flywheel and an engle 110 cam shaft. It has been on a rolling road and dymo unit and develops 100bhp at 5000 rpm and delivers 106 ft.lbs of torque at 4000rpm. Print out available and included.

The fuel is delivered by a Pierburg electric pump and a Filter King unit. From there it goes to twin Dellorto 40 carbs. These have been balanced, tuned and re-jetted in June 2007.

The ignition is electronic using a Bosch 009 distributor as a base - all leads and plugs are new this year.

The gearbox was prepared by 'Cog Box' and has a long 4th gear, giving a cruising speed of 70mph at 3000rpm. Acceleration through 1st and 2nd gear is rapid. Third gear is for town use and very tractable.

The car has been serviced and maintained by a local Volkswagen specialist (General Motors, Stockport) and all bills, service history and MOT's are available.

Included in the price is a pack of spares and literature on 356 history, with a value of £500 plus. Comprising a new set of rear teardrop lights (English standard), spare tyre, spare hood, front headlight lenses, spare fuel pump, spare coil, second set of toughened glass side screens, brakeshoes, original Porsche bonnet badge, original Porsche dash clock, spare Speedster scripts and a selection of needed bits and pieces such as nuts bolts brackets washers etc.
