National Kit Car Show Stoneleigh
Park
3rd & 4th May 2009 A new position for the Club marquee this year, but, alas, the weather was as unpredictable as usual for this event. This did not dampen the spirits of the Club members in attendance, though numbers of cars were a little down on last year, particularly on the Monday, when the cold and damp conditions meant that many members of the public, who would otherwise have enjoyed a day out, gave the show a miss. There were nonetheless a number of highlights. The Sunday night festivities at the Old Mill in Baginton were as lively as ever (enhanced by an early morning fire alarm, set off by an over-active toaster!), Peter Bailey made his re-appearance with a Chesil stand in the main arena and we had some visitors from the continent - including the faithful Udo Guddat from Germany, who put in his usual effort to travel over to the UK, this year in his 356 Coupe. All the regular kit car clubs made their annual appearance and the main halls offered the wide range of goods of all types and descriptions which are so much appreciated by all of us in providing for our every need and replenishing stocks of cleaning materials etc for the summer ahead. All that this show needs next year is some nice, bright, cheerful weather, so that hoods can be left down and we don't keep having to rush round putting them up and down all day! Still, TIPEC and Castle Combe are next and they always provide hot sunshine!(?) Tony |
