Stonor Park, 4th June 2006
Report from Tony Tucker

As always (and I do mean always!), the Aircooled show at Stonor enjoyed the absolutely best weather imaginable - the first decent weekend for months and "phew, what a scorcher!"

Half a dozen Club cars lined up in the centre of the show, the Spyders of Paul Foreman and Trevor Hughes, plus the Speedsters of Messrs Raynesford, Bennett, Fenn and Tucker. After meeting at 8.30am in a nearby car park, we had driven into the wonderful estate of the stately home which hosts the event each year, in time for a full day of buying bits and ogling some stunning cars (after some excellent bacon rolls for breakfast)

Among the cars to be admired were an unknown Spyder 718 RSK in the Concours section, a magnificent Speedster for sale (owned by I know not whom) and an original 356 Carrera coupe (see pictures). Leslie Bennett managed to pick up a complete coil and electronic ignition set at 30% discount and I acquired a sump plate, oil strainer and magnetic pick-up, plus all gaskets, for a total of not much over £10

The autojumble, always one of the highlights at Stonor, featured a fine Nazi helmet, but Leslie was, on this occasion, able to restrain himself! (I suppose owning two could be seen as slightly unnecessary - unless Mary was interested in a "his and hers" display!)

Anyway, another great day, a terrific journey with hood down all day and now we look forward to Castle Combe, with what promises to be a big turn-out of Club members (around 20 at last count, I think). Let's hope the weather is as good!
