UPDATE - April 2008

Following the demise of Thruxton Sportscars, I wanted to reflect on my time as agent and the progress of the few cars imported. It is hoped that a new distributor will soon be appointed, as talks are ongoing with several interested parties. Rick has a 550 Spyder to sell and may be persuaded to do a deal on this. I am working with Special Edition inc. on agreeing a UK specification, to aid any new distributor to move ahead quickly and, in the meantime, may be able to assist with personal import of cars.

Regards my car, I have put some 350 Winter miles on, most with the roof down.A few small teething problems have shown up, but the guys in the USA have been most helpful in assisting me to sort these. Margaret and I look forward to a full season this Summer, including a week touring in Cornwall, to follow on from Castle Combe.

The Forum thread on 356 coupes has led me to ask Carey Hines at Special Edition if they have plans for a coupe themselves. It turns out that Kevin Hines built some 300 Super 90 style coupes under the ENVEMO name in Brazil in the late 70's and early 80's. These were well sorted cars, as may be expected from this fine engineer, and many are still out there, for those who look hard enough, most in South America, some in the USA and a few in Europe. Production of a new car, based on the refurbished ENVEMO moulds, is possible for the future, as Carey sees a market for it in the States, but it would be a costly project in both time and financial senses. See pictures below of Carey's car, kept at the Indiana premises.

The car is now registered. I have only covered a hundred miles or so at this time, but even on these cold Winter days it makes me smile! Sales interest is good, with orders now coming in.

NEWS UPDATE - October 6th 2007

UPDATE - September 18th 2007

My Beck has a brand new SVA, passing on first attempt! Due to the ammount of final fit to be done, I anticipate registration for early October, when the car will be available for demonstration. The other two Speedsters are to be tested in a few days and the first Spyder will be on the road shortly, as Rick's demo car, based at Thruxton.

NEWS OF A NEW MODEL.

From Easter 2008, we are excited to offer a fine replica of the Convertible D 356, this is currently under final developement with Special Edition inc. in the USA. Pricing is to be set, but it will reflect 'affordable quality' as the existing cars. I plan to visit the States in the new year to see this car and look at the operation overall.

My Beck Speedster, 356 EPB, is Silver Blue with Navy Blue leather interior to a replica type seat specification,CB Performance prepared, Mexico spec, 1600 with CB Performance twin Webber IDA carb set up.

Show car at Detling and Stoneleigh in 2007. One of the first batch of cars imported by Thruxton Sportscars ltd and retofitted with occasional rear seating, tonneaux cover, replica Blaupunkt radio, plus door mirrors etc in the UK at Thruxton's Dunsfold workshop.

As official agent for Thruxton Sportscars ltd,  myself and my wife, Margaret hosted stands at Stoneleigh and the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with my Speedster as the show car. We met quite a few club members who were very impressed with the car.
